Mallory Glustien
Mallory Glustien Registered Physiotherapist HBES, HBHSc PT, Level III Ortho, WorkWell Certified, Pilates Level 1
Mallory spent her high school years working on a large horse farm in Gatineau Quebec. It was there that she competed, at a high level, in Three Day Eventing. Mallory completed her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and Biology at the University of Waterloo. She then studied Kinesiology at the University of Ottawa and it was there that she worked with Physiotherapists at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in many settings (including neonatal ICU, burn unit, orthopaedics). She worked in the field of Marine Mammal Research in the Gulf of St. Lawrence for two years then went on to receive her Physiotherapy Degree from McMaster University. She competed as a varsity cross country skier.
She moved to British Columbia and began her Physiotherapy Career in Terrace starting out in Private Practice and immediately starting to consult in the field of ergonomics. With the private practice closing, she and Lori Janzen, decided to stay and give private practice ownership a chance. This included moving to a larger clinical space to accommodate more active rehabilitation options.
Currently Mallory is the complex case coordinator for the clinic and reviews and makes recommendations to Physicians, Case Managers, Lawyers and Insurers. She specializes in Human Factors/Ergonomics and has consulted with over 50 companies and organizations. Her industrial rehabilitation programs include: Work Conditioning, Work Hardening, Return to Work Programs, Functional Abilities Evaluations, Job Demands Analysis and Post Offer/Pre Fit Job Testing. She also has a clinical interests and experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, mental imagery techniques and biomechanical evaluation for sports performance which she draws from her personal experience as a competitive athlete. She has a special interest, post graduate training and years of experience helping people manage chronic pain.
Outside the clinic Mallory LOVES to cross country ski, but without snow, she can be seen pole running up hills (to prepare for cross country skiing). She spends as much time outdoors as possible biking, trail running, hiking, kayaking, exploring, fishing and snorkeling with marine mammals.
“Never, never give up.” Winston Churchill
“We are plastic until we die.” Carol Kennedy - Physiotherapist “Plasticity” refers to our body’s capacity to adapt, and ultimately overcome all measures of pain and dysfunction…from the tiniest neurons in our brains, to the capillaries that circulate blood…to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints that move us. I have seen some truly miraculous recoveries from debilitating injuries, disease and trauma of all kinds…and often it came from the person’s belief that they could, and would, overcome.

Lori Janzen
Lori Janzen Registered Physiotherapist HBaPE, HBHScPT, Ortho Level III, AFCI, Certified Concussion/Vestibular
Lori grew up in a small town in Northwestern Ontario, but knew at a young age, from travelling to BC to visit family, that she loved the mountains. She attended the University of Western Ontario and obtained a degree in Sport Sciences then moved to and worked in sport retail in Calgary to be a “ski bum”. Following a stint of Northern BC tree planting she migrated to Vancouver and participated in Post Graduate Studies in Sports Medicine and worked as the Head Athletic Trainer of UBC Varsity Athletics then at SportsMed BC (this provided opportunities to travel extensively throughout BC). She taught undergraduate Sports Injuries Courses at UBC and continued to work and volunteer with many sports teams (UBC Men’s Rugby, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Hockey, Volleyball and Basketball…including the Women’s National Basketball Team Training Camps) and for many provincial, national and international sporting events. While in Vancouver, Lori also volunteered at BC Children’s Hospital running the pool program for children with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, at Shaughnessy Hospital Spinal Cord Unit and at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre for Spinal Cord and Brain Injuries. It was these cumulative experiences that really made Lori choose Physiotherapy as a career.
She received her Physiotherapy Degree from McMaster University in 1995 and immediately moved back to Vancouver. Having spent time in Northern BC she realized that Physiotherapy offered a way back to the lifestyle and human connections of a smaller town/city and chose Terrace. Working with Margaret Warcup and Mallory Glustien at Kermode Physiotherapy Clinic also afforded the amazing experience of working with people in the Nass Valley. When the clinic was to be sold, Lori and Mallory took on the task of starting a private practice. Cedar River Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was born.
Lori has many clinical interests. She continues to enjoy working with athletes (both young and old) and has a strong interest in biomechanical issues with female runners. Her practice also includes pelvic health as well as dizziness/balance, vestibular and concussion issues. Lori is working to develop more injury prevention programs for people of all ages and activity levels (athletes to seniors). She is interested in health and wellness and helping people lead more active lives by addressing underlying, chronic issues which are preventing them from reaching their activity goals or simply affecting activities of daily living.
Lori is a Clinical Educator with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Physical Therapy and the Department of Human Kinetics. She believes that we all play a critical role in educating future Doctors, Physiotherapists and Kinesiologists to be the kind, compassionate and excellent practitioners who will care for us in the future.
Outside the clinic Lori LOVES trail running, hiking, mountain biking, cross country, downhill and water skiing (really anything outside with family and friends). She also plays the piano and is trying to learn the ukulele when time allows and loves the volunteer opportunities that are available in her community. Her goal is to be mentally and physically strong and engaged as long as possible.
“Every day, that I am fortunate enough to experience good health, is a gift. The stories shared by patients provide inspiration to do my very best each and every day.” Lori
